Due to recent discovery of the spotted lanternfly in South Carolina, California has restricted the shipment of plants from SC as well as 15 other states in which the spotted lanternfly had already been found. It was found over 100 miles from Nurseries Caroliniana, but the whole state has been put under quarantine until a treatment protocol can be worked out to resume shipments to California. Authorities hope that this can be accomplished by the end of the month.

Margie Jenkins American Snowbell. Our native Styrax is one of my favorite native plants. It will never be a big-box plant, but that's fine with me. The small white recurved petalled flowers seem to be touched by a fairy wand. It flowers for us in April here in zone 8, and it will only reach 8-10' in the wild, maybe a little larger. But this selection was found by legendary plants-lady, Margie Jenkins of Amite, LA. The stems are slightly zigzagged, but its best attribute is its leaves with their somewhat silvery undersides and also a little broader than the norm. We will even have rooted cuttings flowering at only a few inches in height. I promise that this plant will endear itself to you as one of your favorite native plants. It seems happiest when planted in filtered sun or morning sun and afternoon shade.
