Ogon Thunberg Spirea. Of course 'Ogon' means golden in Japanese and this is a true golden gem which is probably more used for its foliage color than for its flowers. The new growth in the spring is a brilliant golden-yellow, but as the heat gains impetuous in the summer, it fades to a chartreuse. It has the ame early small white gossamer-like flowers of the species, but it looks like it will mature at a height of 3-4'. When fall arrives, its spring foliage color returns with some added oranges mixed in with the gold.
