Due to the recent discovery of the spotted lanternfly in South Carolina, California has restricted the shipment of plants from SC as well as 15 other states in which the spotted lanternfly had already been found. It was found over 100 miles from Nurseries Caroliniana, but the whole state has been put under quarantine until a treatment protocol can be worked out to resume shipments to California. Authorities hope that this can be accomplished by the end of the month.

American Pillar Rose. Introduced in 1902, 'American Pillar' covers itself with huge clusters of fragrant, single, carmine-pink blooms each spring. As the name implies, the vigorous, flexible canes can easily be trained over arches, pillars, and pergolas. It flowers with such profusion that it is difficult to see the foliage. Here in zone 8, it is at its peak in mid April to mid May and it is often seen around old house sites. As with all roses, plant in full sun. Even with overhead irrigation on a daily basis, we have very little disease problems on its foliage of this cultivar.
