Due to recent discovery of the spotted lanternfly in South Carolina, California has restricted the shipment of plants from SC as well as 15 other states in which the spotted lanternfly had already been found. It was found over 100 miles from Nurseries Caroliniana, but the whole state has been put under quarantine until a treatment protocol can be worked out to resume shipments to California. Authorities hope that this can be accomplished by the end of the month.

Temple Bells Pieris or Andromeda. This cultivar might not be as cold hardy as some, but maybe because it is from southern Japan it will tolerate our southern heat better than most other Pieris. It seems much more resistant to root rot diseases than any other Pieris that I have seen. Leaves are slightly larger than most and its height and spread seem almost equal. Its flowering racemes seem to protrude outward rather than hanging downward as most Pieris do, but frankly I think that it is a heavier bloomer than most. It will attain a size of about 3-4' high with an equal width. Grow it in filtered sun with a well drained uniformly moist soil for the best performance.
