Due to recent discovery of the spotted lanternfly in South Carolina, California has restricted the shipment of plants from SC as well as 15 other states in which the spotted lanternfly had already been found. It was found over 100 miles from Nurseries Caroliniana, but the whole state has been put under quarantine until a treatment protocol can be worked out to resume shipments to California. Authorities hope that this can be accomplished by the end of the month.

Chinese Neillia. This unusual Spirea relative is an easy plant to grow and can fit into any garden. It has a spreading weeping growth habit which will make it broader than high when mature. In May here in zone 8 it flowers with terminal racemes of white flowers which last for 3-4 weeks. Its leaves are heavily cut with distinct leaves which turn a beautiful yellow in the fall. It will tolerate full sun, but I believe it to be happiest with morning sun and afternoon shade or filtered sun. It is one of those plants that just does not make a great statement in the landscape, but can mix with almost anything. It will tolerate a wide soil pH range, but give it good drainage with average fertility.
