Bamboo-leaf Nandina. The cultivar name for this fascinating old Japanese selection means "bamboo," alluding to the appearance of its leaves resembling the foliage of bamboo with its flattened petiole and leaf branches. The leaves are also arranged in a layered effect similar to the shingles on a roof. It has the typical red berries of the species, but one must supply another flowering clone nearby so that bees can pollinate it.
