White or Yellow Berried Nandina. This variety of Nandina has light cream-white berries and green leaves, but the most outstanding characteristic of this cultivar is its golden winter foliage which contrasts beautifully with the red winter foliage of the species. If sited in too much sun, the berries will burn. To show it off to its full advantage one should plant it in conjunction with some red-leaf forms; otherwise, it will be lost in the landscape. When siting Nandinas, it is always best not to use the typical red-leaf types against a red brick or dark background. They become totally lost. But this selection with its winter color and light colored fruit, shows off to best advantage against a dark background. One should always keep in mind with fruiting Nandinas, that they are mostly self infertile. Hence, a seedling, or another flowering clone needs to be planted close by to facilitate pollination.
