Due to the recent discovery of the spotted lanternfly in South Carolina, California has restricted the shipment of plants from SC as well as 15 other states in which the spotted lanternfly had already been found. It was found over 100 miles from Nurseries Caroliniana, but the whole state has been put under quarantine until a treatment protocol can be worked out to resume shipments to California. Authorities hope that this can be accomplished by the end of the month.

Issai Fruiting Mulberry. The Japanese told us that this was a dwarf fruiting Mulberry found in some far off province of China. When I first saw a plant, it was only 18" high and probably had a quarter of cup of fruit on it. This is the perfect small fruiting tree for the home garden. The fruit are unusually large as well. Another superior characteristic of this plant is that it fruits with every flush of growth. I have seen fully three crops of fruit a year from it. I don't know the ultimate size, but my original plant is only about 4' high but over 6' wide. Grow in full sun for best fruit production and highest sugar content. One drawback is that the deer love the leaves, so one may have to throw some bird netting over it.
