Due to the recent discovery of the spotted lanternfly in South Carolina, California has restricted the shipment of plants from SC as well as 15 other states in which the spotted lanternfly had already been found. It was found over 100 miles from Nurseries Caroliniana, but the whole state has been put under quarantine until a treatment protocol can be worked out to resume shipments to California. Authorities hope that this can be accomplished by the end of the month.

Little Leaf Milletia. Other species of Milletia are vines, but this shrub legume is native to China and west into India with fine, mimosa-like leaves which have terminal panicles of magenta-colored pea-like flowers. It is quite vigorous, so give it plenty of space. Since it is a legume, one does not have to use nearly so much fertilizer as with other shrubs or trees as it can appropriate atmospheric nitrogen for its own use. It does best when grown in full sun with good soil drainage.
