Yellow Bird Magnolia has clear yellow flowers and blooms at early age. We have had 2 year old grafted plants with flowers. It is late flowering enough also that it will miss frost damage to its flowers in the spring. We have had rave reviews for this plant by those who have purchased it. This selection was introduced by the Brooklyn Botanical Botanical Garden in 1981. It is a hybrid resulting from the cross between Magnolia acuminata var. subcordata and Magnolia x brooklynensis 'Evamaria'. Flowers are reported to last up to three weeks in bloom. Plant it in full sun to part shade with well drained soil.
