Jazz Hands Variegated Chinese Fringe. If one is a variegated "nut" like myself, this plant is a must. It is the best variegated Loropetalum and the variegation is very stable. It has white, cream and pink splotching over a deep burgundy background. But the toughness of this species is legend. It tolerates the heat and long dry spells that we experience so frequently in the Deep South. Deer have never touched our Loropetalums either; although, I have reports of some being attacked in some areas. The pictures below were taken at Riverbanks Zoo and Gardens in Columbia, SC, where it is kept pruned to about 30" high, but it can reach 5' if left to itself. It has the same magenta colored flowers as most of the burgundy foliage types.
Zones 7-9.
