Due to the recent discovery of the spotted lanternfly in South Carolina, California has restricted the shipment of plants from SC as well as 15 other states in which the spotted lanternfly had already been found. It was found over 100 miles from Nurseries Caroliniana, but the whole state has been put under quarantine until a treatment protocol can be worked out to resume shipments to California. Authorities hope that this can be accomplished by the end of the month.

Starburst Japanese Tanbark. This awesome variegated plant is in the oak family and has 6" long lanceolate leaves with a large yellow splotch down the center of the leaf. This form was brought into the country from Japan by the late Dr. Fred Meyer of the U. S. National Arboretum. It has unusual flowers on a spike-like inflorescence forming small acorns in the fall. It will make a medium size tree of up to 25-30 ft. It should be planted in full sun to part shade with good drainage. We have never seen any deer damage on this plant either, nor any other pests for that matter.
