October Moon Japanese Shrub Mint. I paid $125.00 for a 3" pot of this selection which has more oval leaves than L. japonicum. Each chartreuse leaf is bordered with a cream-white margin in spring which slowly turns cream-yellow. The flower spikes in the fall which arise above the foliage are somewhat more stocky than L. japonicum and are a gorgeous lavender-pink, but they are branched into multiple spikes which also differs from L. japonicum which has single spikes. This is a wonderful perennial to combine with Hosta in the shade garden and especially for fall flowers. Here in zone 8 ours flower from late August into November.
