Due to the recent discovery of the spotted lanternfly in South Carolina, California has restricted the shipment of plants from SC as well as 15 other states in which the spotted lanternfly had already been found. It was found over 100 miles from Nurseries Caroliniana, but the whole state has been put under quarantine until a treatment protocol can be worked out to resume shipments to California. Authorities hope that this can be accomplished by the end of the month.

Fubuki-Nishiki Kerria. I found this cultivar in Japan and it has cream-white marble splashed leaves with single soft yellow flowers, which may or may not be streaked with white, as in the first picture.  A real charmer. "Nishiki" in Japanese means "brocade" and almost all Japanese variegated plants have this incorporated into their names. This is a versatile easy-to-grow shrub which will tolerate part sun to shade conditions and reach a height of 4-6 ft. Soil type is unimportant, just give it good drainage and moderate fertility. Fall color is a good yellow, and when the leaves drop, the green branches give it an overall evergreen effect. Flowering here is from early April to May and then some sporadic flowering through the summer. Native to China and Japan.
