Due to the recent discovery of the spotted lanternfly in South Carolina, California has restricted the shipment of plants from SC as well as 15 other states in which the spotted lanternfly had already been found. It was found over 100 miles from Nurseries Caroliniana, but the whole state has been put under quarantine until a treatment protocol can be worked out to resume shipments to California. Authorities hope that this can be accomplished by the end of the month.

Illicium floridanum 'Grey Ghost'

Grey Ghost Florida Anise. This selection of our southern native shrub, Florida anise, Illicium floridanum, was made by Tommy Dodd of Semmes, AL. It has pewter grey foliage with a fine cream-white margin on each leaf. Surprisingly, the flowers are a pale pink. This plant is much more vigorous than one of Tommy's previous variegated forms, 'Shady Lady.' It is really quite vigorous, considering the amount of variegation. It grows best in filtered sun or part shade. It will make a large shrub of up to 6-8'. The first photo is compliments of Mike Chelednik.
