Chantilly Lace Panicle Hydrangea. This is a selection made by Dr. Michael Dirr of a seedling group at the Center for Applied Nursery Research, Dearing, GA. Heads are a nice lacy white, but late flowering heads will turn a bright pink as they age, which really adds to the desirability of this selection. The "Peegee" type Hydrangeas do best in full sun, which is welcome to those who don't have enough shade to grow the "macrophylla" types. Another note is that they flower on current seasons wood, so one can prune them back heavily each spring to induce more succulent growth which results in larger flower heads.
