Unlike most Amaryllis that we are familiar with, this one is evergreen with 2\" wide leaves which have a central white stripe from the base of its leaf to the tip. The flower is a typical Amaryllis trumpet, but not as flared as the hybrid types. Its species name come from the characteristic \"reticulated\" venation of the flower, pink veins with white to pink color in-between the veins. Some have reported that they actually get better flower production in 80% shade than in more sun. As a matter of fact, even without its flowers, this species makes an very attractive indoor pot plant as one can see from several of the photos. A friend of mine in north Georgia has had it growing outdoors in his garden for years and it comes back consistently each spring, but it has never flowered. This is probably because it wants to be an evergreen, but when planted outdoors, its foliage freezes to the ground during the winter, making it use much of its stored energy regrowing new foliage in the spring, rather than producing flowers. So it is ground hardy in zone 7b, but to get flowers, one would needs to grow it as a container plant in zones 7 and 8 and lower, but it would flower outdoors in zones 9-10. It divides quiet readily, with one bulb producing up to 3 to 7 new bulbs each season. This is a real collector plant.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp style=\"background-color: transparent; color: #000000; font-family: \u0026amp;quot; helvetica neue\u0026amp;quot;,helvetica,arial,sans-serif; font-size: 15px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: 400; letter-spacing: normal; line-height: 21px; orphans: 2; text-align: left; text-decoration: none; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; white-space: normal; word-spacing: 0px; margin: 0px 0px 15px 0px;\"\u003eZones 7-10\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Nurseries Caroliniana","offers":[{"title":"1 quart","offer_id":44072090042431,"sku":null,"price":28.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/2602\/3376\/files\/Hippeastrumreticulatumstriatifolium5_1.jpg?v=1791389496","url":"https:\/\/nurcar.com\/products\/hippeastrum-reticulatum-striatifolium","provider":"Nurseries Caroliniana","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
