Copper Lily or Rio Grande Rain Lily. This little charming native of the Southwest and Mexico has brilliant yellow flowers with orange streaks occurring in late summer and early fall after a good rain. It's almost magical how quickly flowers pop up when they receive a late summer thunder storm. The foliage is amazingly evergreen even down into the upper teens for us. Since it readily reseeds, one will eventually get a thick little patch of foliage. Even from seed, one may get flowers in a year. Photo is courtesy of Mike Chelednik.
