Annemieke Tree Ivy. J. C. Raulston of NC State first gave me this cultivar. It is a striking variegated form with green margins and yellow splashes in its leaves. The brighter the light, the more vivid is the color. For years we had just referred to this cultivar as 'Aureo-variegata', but now we know the correct cultivar name to be 'Annemieke.' The parent is a cross between English Ivy, Hedera helix, and the well know shade shrub Fatsia japonica. The original hybrid was found in a garden in Nantes, France in 1910. It has the same viney growth habit of the species which must be supported to get any height at all. Needs part to full shade and also does well as a container or house plant.
