Due to the recent discovery of the spotted lanternfly in South Carolina, California has restricted the shipment of plants from SC as well as 15 other states in which the spotted lanternfly had already been found. It was found over 100 miles from Nurseries Caroliniana, but the whole state has been put under quarantine until a treatment protocol can be worked out to resume shipments to California. Authorities hope that this can be accomplished by the end of the month.

Ryutd or Lunar Landing Evergreen Ligularia. The Japanese have shows in which they exhibit this perennial in the "koten engei" fashion where they are displayed very formally in their exquisite highly decorated porcelain pots. Many cultivars sell in the hundreds of dollars. For an evergreen herbaceous perennial in the Deep South, this plant is hard to beat.  One might say of this cultivar that this is a face that only a mother could love. This cultivar is grown for its overly bizarre incredibly contorted foliage which is always a source of conversation in the garden. In October, 2 ft. flower spikes begin to emerge which are topped with bright yellow daisies. Grow it in shade with good drainage but adequate moisture. This species will also make a great container plant.
