Chinese Evergreen Solomon's Seal. We have offered this as Disporopsis fuscopicta, because this is what It was labelled as in Japan. But I have since found out that this is the straight species D. pernyi. This evergreen Solomon's Seal will reach 24-28" in height and will slowly clump out as it grows. Here in zone 8 its stems are lined with white lily-like flowers at each leaf node. Grow in shade with uniform moisture and good drainage. We had our coldest two winters on record for the winters of 2009-1- and 2010-11, and there was not a single burnt leaf on them. It really makes a dramatic statement in the shade garden where it contrasts well with Hostas, and it makes a great tall ground cover for massing. It can be easily divided while it is dormant from fall through winter.
