Yamaguchi White Flowering Dichroa. The only forms of Dichroa which I had seen have all had blue flowers, but I found this selection at Yamaguchi Plantsman Nursery near Mizunami City, Gifu Prefecture, Japan. I first noticed it because its leaves being a paler green and so I asked him if this one had white flowers. The flowers are pure white which are actually showier than any of the blue flowering cultivars, as one can see from the pictures. To get the electric blue fruit that one would expect from this species, one should plant at least two different clones so that there is good cross pollination. So by planting one of the other cultivars, there will be increased probability of getting the awesome colored berries, but since this one has yet to set fruit, I can't confirm the color. The fruit may well be white like the flowers. Dichroas do best planted in year round shade to part sun.
