Due to the recent discovery of the spotted lanternfly in South Carolina, California has restricted the shipment of plants from SC as well as 15 other states in which the spotted lanternfly had already been found. It was found over 100 miles from Nurseries Caroliniana, but the whole state has been put under quarantine until a treatment protocol can be worked out to resume shipments to California. Authorities hope that this can be accomplished by the end of the month.

Fuzzy Deutzia. This is one of the older dependable deciduous flowering shrubs in existence. It is so easy to grow that I think it gets overlooked. It can reach 4-8 ft. in height with a greater spread. It does well in full sun to part shade. It is best used in a shrub border because by late summer the foliage is not anything to write home about. But once established, it thrives on neglect. Periodically, one should remove some of its oldest canes all the way to the ground. Here in zone 8 it flowers with 4-6" cylindrical panicles in late April and early May.
