Rubella Beautyberry. This Beautyberry is an introduction from the U. S. National Arboretum and is native to southern China, Vietnam and Malaysia. It has the typical lavender flowers of the genus followed by brilliant purple berries which totally encircle its stems. The leaves of its new growth are very fealty and flushed with purple. Since Callicarpas flower and fruit on current seasons wood, it is best to prune back ones plants in late winter to induce more growth, which in turn will give you a much larger flower and fruit crops. Best grown in full sun to part shade.
