Strawberry Limeade Sasanqua. This is one of the more truly unique flowers of any Sasanqua that I have ever seen. It is a true formal double with up 40 petals, which in itself is unique among Sasanquas. In its registration page with the American Camellia Society, the color is described as "strawberry pink with petals tipped lime green and a lime green center". But one must see it to appreciate it because of the unique cup-shape of each petal with a distinct pointed tip on most petals which is first a light lime green. This cultivar was a chance seedling of Glenn Read of Glenn Read Camellia Nursery of Lucedale, Mississippi. It first flowered in 2005 on a nine year old chance seedling, so it is a relatively new cultivars. It is an upright, dense, vigorous grower and an early to mid-season bloomer. The first and second pictures are the courtesy of Gene Phillips.
