Bert Jones Sasanqua. This is an incredible Sasanqua which I acquired years ago. At the time I was assuming that it was named for the quarterback, Bert Jones, of the Baltimore Colts from the 60's or 70's. Now I'm showing my age! But apparently this is not so. I have researched all over and cannot find the origin of this cultivar. Because the preponderance of information on it has come out of nurseries in Australia, it might be presumptuous of me to presume that it is an Australian or New Zealand selection. This is without a doubt one of the most floriferous cultivars that I have ever seen. It has an unusually large flower of 4" or more and is a semi-double flower of a good bright pink. So 'Bert Jones' is one handsome fellow. I have seen it listed as a 3-4' plant but ours here just outside the office is 10-12 ft. with a good 10 ft. spread. It is a good dense grower as well.
