Due to the recent discovery of the spotted lanternfly in South Carolina, California has restricted the shipment of plants from SC as well as 15 other states in which the spotted lanternfly had already been found. It was found over 100 miles from Nurseries Caroliniana, but the whole state has been put under quarantine until a treatment protocol can be worked out to resume shipments to California. Authorities hope that this can be accomplished by the end of the month.

Goliath Harland Boxwood. This is a name which I have given this selection and Dr. Michael Dirr refers to it in his Manual of Woody Landscape Plants. It seems to be Buxus harlandii on steroids, with leaves twice the size and a growth habit which is twice the rate of the straight species of Buxus harlandii. Mike first showed me this plant maybe 25 years ago, and then Rick Crown of Madison, GA, showed me a hedge of this selection about a block from his home. This is without a doubt a different clone than the recognized species, maybe originating somewhere around the Madison or Athens area. There needs to be more work on identifying this selection. So if you prefer the growth habit of Harland Box, but need a larger plant. This is one you need.
