Due to the recent discovery of the spotted lanternfly in South Carolina, California has restricted the shipment of plants from SC as well as 15 other states in which the spotted lanternfly had already been found. It was found over 100 miles from Nurseries Caroliniana, but the whole state has been put under quarantine until a treatment protocol can be worked out to resume shipments to California. Authorities hope that this can be accomplished by the end of the month.

Glow Light Japanese Boehmeria. This perennial is a new 15-24" tall, variegated  woodland perennial from Japan and is almost identical to 'Kogane Mush' in coloration except it has clear bright golden foliage; whereas, the former has flecks of green in its leaves. The foliage emerges bright gold in the spring and we have usually grown it in a shaded environment. But upon visiting Moore Farms Botanical Gardens in Lake City, SC, they were growing it in practically full sun and it was overwhelming. Here it was doing unbelievably well. This is definitely a foliage plant as the flowers are mostly inconspicuous.  This plant was introduced to America by Barry Yinger formerly of the U. S. National Arboretum and Asiatica Nursery.
