Marmorata Aucuba. This cultivar was brought from Hillier's Arboretum in England in 2002 by Mark Griffith of Griffith Propagation Nursery in Georgia. It has one of the most heavily variegated leaves that one will find, very similar to 'Mr. Goldstrike' and 'Golden King.' In addition to this incredible variegation, this selection is a female with large red berries. Of course one needs a male nearby for proper pollination for fruit to set. As Aucubas age, the berries on the females become much more showy as there is less and less vegetative growth produced after flowering. Remember, shade and good drainage are prerequisites for growing Aucubas.
