Loquat Brocade Marlberry. NEW RELEASE. This is the first release of this Marlberry cultivar from Japan into the U.S. as far as I know. It has a close resemblance to 'Hakuoukan' with its white margins and pewter-green center. It produces the same pink flowers and red berries as the species and spreads by underground rhizomes. It makes a stunning groundcover in the Deep South, as well as a striking pot plant in more northern zones. The one characteristic that makes this cultivar superior to 'Hakuoukan' is that we have never seen a single reversion with it. It appears to be somewhat more compact than 'Hakuoukan', but it also has the same pink-tinted new growth.
