Angyo Pixie Coralberry. This cute little Ardisia or Coralberry groundcover is the smallest that I have ever found. It was in the largest garden center that I have ever seen in Japan, about two hours north of Tokyo, near Minaminasu City. There is a large section of the nursery which is dedicated to plants left on consignment by gardeners and nurseries, and here is where one will find some real gems. If someone has a new sport or selection of a plant, they will put it in the consignment area for sale. This is where I found this selection. The name is mine. Many times one can get real bargains and sometimes one might find a one-of-a-kind selection. This one produces the same small pale pink flowers of the species followed by its characteristically red berries. Give filtered sun or shade when growing it as a groundcover. With the third photo, this is the furthest plant to the right.
