Andre the Giant Ardisia or Coralberry. When I saw this particular cultivar of Ardisia japonica, I was overwhelmed by the size of the berries. The leaves and the berries were larger than the species. The owner of the nursery said that it was a repeat bloomer and fruiter, but this is probably if kept growing in an indoor environment. We put a pot of this in our office around Christmas, as it has the Yule Tide look with its large shiny green leaves and huge red berries. This is by far the showiest cultivar of this species in fruit. It also makes a great groundcover in the Deep South where it grows much like Pachysandra does up North, with its underground rhizomes. Or, it makes a showy house plant anywhere, but when grown indoors, keep your eyes open for red spider mites which love to get under its leaves.
