Due to the recent discovery of the spotted lanternfly in South Carolina, California has restricted the shipment of plants from SC as well as 15 other states in which the spotted lanternfly had already been found. It was found over 100 miles from Nurseries Caroliniana, but the whole state has been put under quarantine until a treatment protocol can be worked out to resume shipments to California. Authorities hope that this can be accomplished by the end of the month.

Arkansas Blue-star. I suppose that this is one of the few perennials which is grown more for its fall color rather than for its flowers. But even so, its stems are topped in the spring by soft blue terminal panicles of star-like flowers. Even if it did not flower, its soft textured foliage gives great contrast in the perennial border, and then as Allan Armitage says, "the golden yellow spectacle in the fall is second to none among herbaceous plants." To add to its many attributes, it is a native as well.
