Tokyo Gold Weigela. I found this Weigela cultivar in Kawaguchi, Japan, at a co-op garden center. Here many growers have an area for which they are responsible and where they display their own wares. This was the only plant which I saw of this selection. It has some of the most brilliant gold foliage that I have ever seen on any plant. The beautiful golden leaves form a perfect foil for the soft pink flowers which open for us in mid to late April. Even in part shade, this plant is glows.
