Salina's Pink Chastetree. For years we have been looking for a really pink Vitex, and we have finally found one. Or either plantsman Greg Grant did, as this selection was found by him in Texas. The flower spikes are a true pink on a very vigorous plant which has all of the great attributes of this species. You will be awed by this selection. Grow in full sun for best form and bloom. Vitex can be pruned back in late winter since it flowers on current season's wood. But it also makes a quaint small tree with slightly contorted branch structure which really adds to its interest. Vitex has the common name "Chastetree" since Athenian women used the leaves in their beds to keep themselves "chaste" during the feasts of Ceres.
