Variegated Thujopsis. This is an excellent variegated clone of the species. There are outstanding white splotches throughout the foliage. It appears to be similar in growth to var. hondai, but more upright. I have seen plants which are up to 10 ft. It has the same cultural requirements for the species, filtered sun in the Deep South, but more sun further north. One of the first Japanese nurserymen who visited here some years ago, Mr. Yamaguchi of the Gifu Prefecture, has a specimen of this growing in his garden which is a tight upright conical form. Really quite impressive, but best to be grown in morning sun and afternoon shade or filtered shade. I would not put it in dense shade as with var. hondai.
