Green Giant Arborvitae. This plant will certainly become the new substitute for Leyland Cypress as a fast growing screen or pyramidal specimen. But even better, it is resistant to Bott Canker and Bag Worms, the two nemeses of Leylands. One should never plant a Leyland when this selection is available. The foliage color is a good deep green which lasts for us all winter, and it also has a great aroma, which is wonderful for Christmas greenery or as a Christmas tree. We have had no damage on this plant from deer either, like many have experienced with Leylands. This is probably a hybrid between T. plicata and T. standishii. Garden origin.
