Due to recent discovery of the spotted lanternfly in South Carolina, California has restricted the shipment of plants from SC as well as 15 other states in which the spotted lanternfly had already been found. It was found over 100 miles from Nurseries Caroliniana, but the whole state has been put under quarantine until a treatment protocol can be worked out to resume shipments to California. Authorities hope that this can be accomplished by the end of the month.

Pewter Leaf Japanese Stewartia. WOW! What a selection. When I first saw this plant, it was in fall color. As one can see from the pictures below, it is amazing. It is a prolific bloomer, and It has the same white Camellia-like flowers as the species. The summer foliage on this selection does have a light silver sheen to it, but it is in its full glory with its fall color. Its smooth bark has the same incredible display of the species. It is also amazingly vigorous. Here in the Deep South, we grow Stewartias in filtered sun. Probably morning sun and afternoon shade wouldn't hurt. It prefers uniform moisture. The pictures below are of its fall color.
