Pink Stachyurus. I found this cultivar of pink flowering Stachyurus in a small specialty rare plant nursery near Nagoya, Japan. The owner told me that it was red, but even though this is stretching the truth a bit, it is still the best pink that I have seen. It prefers the same conditions of the species, filtered sun in a woodland like setting. It has a spreading habit where it will reach 5-6' in height with a slightly greater spread. With its hanging racemes of flowers in late winter when the foliage has yet to appear, this species will create a surreal air of peace and tranquility in your garden. Unfortunately, deer like it almost as much as I do. So if you have a deer problem, be forewarned.
