Due to recent discovery of the spotted lanternfly in South Carolina, California has restricted the shipment of plants from SC as well as 15 other states in which the spotted lanternfly had already been found. It was found over 100 miles from Nurseries Caroliniana, but the whole state has been put under quarantine until a treatment protocol can be worked out to resume shipments to California. Authorities hope that this can be accomplished by the end of the month.

Gold Splash Stachyurus. It is absolutely amazing at how many variegated leaf variants that we have found within this species. This selection we saw in Dr. Masato Yokoi's garden just outside of Tokyo, and he shared cuttings with us. He is one of the co-authors  of 'VARIEGATED PLANTS IN COLOR.' And he was considered as one of the world authorities on plant pigments. Summer Chocolate Mimosa was one of his many introductions. This cultivar of Stachyurus has a generously random splashing of yellow, which lightens to almost pure white as the leaves harden off. It has the typical 6 inch hanging, yellow flower spikes in spring. This is one of the best woodland shrubs for a filtered sun location with good drainage and uniform moisture.
