Due to recent discovery of the spotted lanternfly in South Carolina, California has restricted the shipment of plants from SC as well as 15 other states in which the spotted lanternfly had already been found. It was found over 100 miles from Nurseries Caroliniana, but the whole state has been put under quarantine until a treatment protocol can be worked out to resume shipments to California. Authorities hope that this can be accomplished by the end of the month.

Fujino Pink Spirea. We are not sure if this is a true S. thunbergii, because the leaves seem to be too wide for this species and it grows much larger than the species, but it was received from Japan with this label. I really think that it might be S. arguta. The cultivar is a far heavier bloomer than any other S. thunbergii, being one of the most floriferous plants that I have ever seen. The pink will not bowl you over, but it is the only early spring-flowering Spirea which has pink flowers. But, if the flowers are not enough, the fall foliage on this variety is truly SPECTACULAR!!! Awesome shades of yellow, tangerine, orange and red which lasts for weeks. Even if it didn't flower, the fall color alone would be enough to make me plant this cultivar. If I had to pick a favorite Spirea, this would be it.
