Ruscus-leafed Sarcococca. This species is often confused with S. confusa, but it is distinct in that it has red berries which stay red even when mature. The foliage is very similar in size to S. confusa, but it is a little wider and slightly more flat (S. confusa being slightly wavy). The ultimate size appears to be in the neighborhood of 4', with the same white, fragrant, winter flower of the species. It is somewhat more cold-tender than S. confusa, probably zones 7b-9. W. China and Tibet. Sarcococcas are some of the best evergreen, dry shade shrubs imaginable.
