Rostrinucula. We formerly called this plant "Weeping Buddleia", but since it is in the Mint family, Lamiaceae, we thought that this was not a good common name. It is really something new, producing hanging racemes of 6 to 16" of soft lavender-pink, bottlebrush-like flowers from late August to mid October. Since it flowers on current seasons wood, we recommend to prune back to 6-8" in late winter. By leaving the old stems up with the dried hanging racemes, this gives much winter interest. It does well in full sun to part shade, with the longest racemes produced in shade. It does have the potential to reseed, but since the seed are so fine, animals do not spread them and as soon as they germinate under the parent, a couple of days without water will render them defunct. This is just a fascinating little plant for the mixed shrub or perennial border. It's ultimate height can be from 3-6 feet tall.
