Japanese Mock Orange. But please, it is not an orange. Dirr calls this selection "a landscape sleeper that gardeners would enjoy." If one is looking for a good screening plant or informal hedge that requires very little maintenance, then this is an ideal plant for you. It has small white fragrant flowers in the axils of its leaves in late April and early May for us here in zone 8. It can be allowed to grow naturally or one can shear it if that is the preferred look. We have had no disease or insect problems with this plant, and once established it is maintenance free.
