Twiggy Boxleaf Honeysuckle. This species of Honeysuckle has always been one of my favorite small shrubs because of its fine foliage and irregular cascading growth habit. Easily cultivated and so far deer have not touched it. I always say that with some reservations. In the Deep South, it is completely evergreen, but further north, it might be slightly deciduous. When grown in sun, 'Twiggy' has distinctly golden yellow foliage, but the more shade it is given the leaves turn chartreuse and then green in more dense shade. Although it grows quite well in some shade. This selection seems to mature at around 2' high by 2' across, even though a similar looking cultivar 'Baggeson's Gold' is reported to reach 8'. Thus 'Twiggy' is a much more ideal selection for the home garden.
