Blue Rug Juniper. This is one of the most prostrate of the Junipers, literally making a 3" high groundcover of a beautiful blue-green color. In the winter it takes on an ice-blue look which is even more stunning. It grows best in full sun and it makes an ideal cover for banks, but I have seen it do amazingly well under tall pines. As it spreads, it has the ability to root down where its stems come in contact with the soil. Once well established, this Juniper is quite drought tolerant.
