Piccolo Japanese Holly. This is another selection of Japanese holly that resembles a low green mushroom or cushion. Very slow growing, hence one of the better selections to train in the bonsai tradition. Grow it in full sun to part shade with good drainage. Dirr says, "grows 1 in. per year, 2 ft. by 2 ft. in 24 years." Ours have grown somewhat faster than this, but it is by no means a speed ball. The plants we are offering are quite old. It was an old block that got "lost" here at the nursery. Fortunately they were tagged.
