Ocala Dahoon Holly. With my penchant for variegated plants, this selection really jumped out at me at the silent plant auction at the Plant Symposium at NCSU, Raleigh, NC. in 2019. After acquiring it, I'm even more impressed after propagating it and growing it off. The new growth will produce marginal variegations and some all white tip growth. The solid white tips will eventually turn green. Even though it appears to be a male cultivar, it really stands out in the landscape. From a distance it appears to be a flowering tree because of its outstanding variegation. It will perform best in full sun to part shade and is not that particular as to soil. I have even observed this species growing in the wild where the root system will be submerged in water for a prolonged period. This is a species which normally gets 20-30 ft. with a 12 ft. spread, but I'm not sure what will be the mature height of this selection.
