Limelight Panicle Hydrangea. This introduction is a prolific bloomer which will produce soft greenish-white, extremely full panicles if grown in part shade, but if grown in full sun, its panicles will be whiter. The "Peegee" type Hydrangeas do best in full sun, which is welcome to those who don't have enough shade to grow the "macrophylla" types. Another note is that they flower on current seasons wood, so one can prune them back heavily each spring to induce more succulent growth which results in larger flower heads. This selection has literally revolutionized the use of this species in Deep South landscapes. The flower heads when dried are excellent features in dried flower arrangements.
