Yamaguchi Narrow-leaf Dichroa. Here is the newest clone of this species that I have gotten from Mr. Yamaguchi in Japan. He is definitely the "Dichroa King" of the universe. This close Hydrangea relative makes a smallish shrub of 2-3' and is evergreen the further south one goes. This cultivar has narrow pointed leaves and it appears that it is going to be somewhat more compact than the species as well. It is very attractive and I'm sure this is a first offering in the U. S. Again as with the other clones, one would need more than one clone for good fruit set. The flowers tend to be more lavender than blue and it is quite floriferous, with the berries more of a purple-pink than blue as well. It seems to be happiest when grown in filtered sun or morning sun and afternoon shade with uniform moisture.
